Greg McElroy: Is QB's NFL Career in Jeopardy After Blasting Jets?

The New York Jets had a lot of problems both on and off the field this year, but it's never been as bad as it is now.

Because now, a guy who has taken zero career snaps is blasting the environment in the locker room.

That guy is rookie quarterback Greg McElroy out of Alabama.

In an interview with Alabama radio station 97.3, McElroy ripped apart the Jets' locker room.?

"It's definitely not a fun place to be, I can assure you," McElroy said.?"It?s the first time I've ever been around extremely selfish individuals, and I think that?s maybe the nature of the NFL. But there were people within our locker room that didn?t care whether we won or lost, as long as they got their ... they really had good games individually. That's the disappointing thing, and it's going to take a lot to kind of come together."

Wow.?

If you didn't know McElroy was a rookie, you probably do now, because this was an amateur move.

There's no question in my mind that what he's saying is 100 percent true. That's completely understandable. But this isn't how he should have handled it.

McElroy needs to take his problems up with his team behind closed doors. Talk to his teammates face-to-face like a professional. He doesn't, however, need to go to the media or some radio station in Alabama to rip his team.

Is McElroy's NFL career in jeopardy?

  • Yes

  • No

Goodness. How can this kid be so ignorant??

Good for him for actually realizing there is a problem in the locker room, and good for him for wanting to change it, but c'mon, man.

No one should be taking up their problems with the media, let alone someone like McElroy, who has yet to even step on the playing field for a regular season game.

If the rookie returns to the Jets next season, I'll be extremely surprised. It's not like New York is desperate for this seventh-round talent.

If he can't even handle himself like a professional off the field, there's no point in keeping him around.?

Someone might grab him for their practice squad or something like that, but it's safe to say no one will really will want McElroy after he pulls a stunt like this.?
